Size guide is off

Dress is absolutely stunning. Color. Material. The bling. Gorgeous. Only complaint is the size chart is completely off. I measured based on my hips and the chart said to order a 12. I am normally a 6-8 depending on brand. I was nervous so I followed the size guide and I was swimming in it. I couldn’t even exchange the size bc it was a final sale. Thankfully I was able to get it tailored, but I ended up spending the total amount of the original dress price to have it fixed.
